As more and more people enter the sport of pickleball in NYC, it is becoming increasingly important for players to understand what their skill level currently is, and what it will take to get to the next level. That is why we entered into an official partnership with DUPR - encourage everyone in the pickleball community to create a DUPR account, and to join the NYC Pickleball Club. 

What is DUPR? 

Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating is the most accurate and only global rating system in the sport of pickleball. All players, regardless of their age, gender, location, or skill, are rated on the same scale between 2.000-8.000 based on their match results.

Why should you create a DUPR account?

Self-ratings should be a thing of the past. With a DUPR account, you will know exactly where you stand - not just relative to your peers, but to the pros as well. In the future, we will be hosting play sessions where you can obtain your DUPR rating, and then play in rating-specific sessions where you can look to improve your rating while getting the most competitive games possible.

What will we use DUPR for?

It is important you get a DUPR because your rating will be used for entry into NYC Pickleball organized programming such as clinics, leagues and ladders and for skill assessment and improvement tracking with lessons. 

Do points scored in a match affect ratings?

Yes! Fight for every point and every game because they all count - not just wins and losses like traditional ranking systems.

What if I’m unrated and I play against other unrated players?

That’s okay! Those scores will retroactively count once you or the other players play against someone who does have a DUPR. This is called “connectivity” and it’s a beautiful thing.

How do I join NYC Pickleball on DUPR?

  • If you've already played in a tournament or league, you may have an account waiting for you to claim. From the sign up page, search for your name, location, and age to claim your existing account, or create a new one, if needed.

  • Tap the Clubs icon in the top bar, then search for NYC Pickleball to find us. Tap on our page and select Join Club. Easy!
